Germaine Greer

Have just been listening to an interview on ABC 24 and she called Juliar Gillard an organ grinders monkey the way she dressed. Here was this wrinkled stick with a head of hair that looked like she had put her hand in the power socket critisizing how another person looked. I personally have never admired this loud, overbearing feminist.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

Re: Germaine Greer

The question was about image, wasn't it?

As was the answer Greer gave.

Where did I say that was alright?

But you'd kind of expect that from those against her. Although to put rather a fine point on it, none of those comments were about what she was wearing.

Ms Greer as a women's libber and someone you'd think was on team Gillard was way out of line with her comments.

Where is the rule that says all feminists have to be on Gillard's side?

The Q&A question was about image.  Why shouldn't she comment as a panelist?

It was a single comment but as usual that one single comment is taken out of all context and the woman is attacked.

Re: Germaine Greer

Any women worth a grain of salt would not have attacked her appearance the way Greer did. If the question related to her image, i'm sure she could have found plenty to say about the way Julia Gillard presented herself, her ability to address the Nation was one such admirable quality.

It would appear, we see this differently, I have said how I feel about Greer's hurtful put down of Julia Gillard, it's time to move on.

My reference was not just looks, that would be shallow.

I refer to attitude and all a person has to do is open their mouth and out it pours,  thats when regardless of phisical appearence Ugly shines through.

A further question to you and Newstart (I won't waste my time waiting for an answer)

If you have a room full of men, how do you know which of them are feminists?

Same answer as for women?

You wouldn't know unless they had some tell tale signs on display.

This is completely correct.

And Martini, I have seen the interview, and read the posts quoting it here.

I have met gg several times also. That is not enough to know someone, and how they think. But it helps form an opinion.

Which is what all of these comments are, opinions on words said. By someone famous about another public figure, so it generates this level of interest.

In the context of a feminist, commenting on a party, perhaps...but definitely upon a woman, and the first female P.M.
