So how do you suggest she respond to such questions in an interview?

Greer is an interesting academic and writer.  If people still seek to interview her why the heck should she shut up and not speak?  She's just another woman who is often selectively quoted to get a reaction.

You make some good points, but Greer's shaming isn't okay.

I doubt she minds the attention, however, and may have been seeking it.

What she said was in poor taste, and spoken from ignorance of this woman's life, even if there may be some general truth to her larger argument.

Kate has made choices which should be respected from a feminist perspective, not ridiculed.

i dont think she should shut up, i meam lets face it she is obvuosley speaking from her vast experance with child birth and the rigers it takes on a poor women, especially one who dosnt have access to the finest medical help money can buy , i mean the poor dutches of york , how will she ever cope or recover from this absoloute travisty i mean how dare people think that this is a joyuose occasion for her that she will revel in for the rest of her life.

Women don't need a voice now? If the duchess announced that she had no intention of having children becuase she would rather have a career or .....just wasn't that interested in children, you can bet the boards would light up with posters tearing strips off her for her 'selfish', unwomanly choices. If she chooses to put on 20kg after childbirth and keep it on, the gloosy mags would have a field day printing pages and pages of photos of her saggy rear end, and many posters here would be gleefully contributing to the vilification (remember 'The Duchess of Pork'?)

You can bet your bottom dollar that, despite having chosen to marry William, there is a huge weight of expectation on her to do her job as the future queen properly, that being: shut up, look great, and push out a couple of heirs to the throne asap. That was Diana's 'job', she performed it well in the early days but look she ended up - bulimic, depressed, suicidal.

Let's hope that this is all Catherine wants from life, to be a thin, pretty, motherly public figure who never challenges the establishment or questions her role. Because if that all falls apart, you can bet she's going to become a woman who needs a voice like Greer's, because the press and the public will be absolutely merciless in ripping her to pieces.

Greer is now known as a women who does not support other women in high visiblity positions.

She insulted Ms Gillard on national TV and now she's going after a happy young woman who is expecting another child.

She's irrelevent to today,  she's a woman looking for a headline no matter how low she has to go.

Ms Greer can only have as many headlines as the media want her to.

She will never be irrelevant and given the success of her "campaign" for feminism I suspect she will be a legend.

Ms Greer insulted a sitting PM as a woman who had a big arsse and she criticised her choice in clothing. I seem to recall the PM Abbott was crucified because someone stood behind him with a plackard that he was unaware of.

Ms Gillard  is in the process of spruiking her book and how she was treated as a woman, so is what Greer did acceptable by other women on here?  should her attacks on women be ignored? because she is not standing up for women now is she?.
