Gillard dumps Labor Senator for not being black

Another STUNT by this desperate PM....

Wonder Gillard wiped KRUDDSs  blood of the knife before she stabbed a loyal senator or 25 years  in the back.

It’s a clear case of racial discrimination. Prime Minister Julia Gillard dumps Senator Trish Crossin for being too white:

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard faces a fight to get former Olympian Nova Peris into the Senate, with current NT Senator Trish Crossin speaking out against the decision to replace her.

Ms Peris will stand for Labor at the upcoming election, with Julia Gillard declaring the party needs an indigenous representative in the Federal Parliament…

The Prime Minister personally selected the Aboriginal athlete for preselection as a senate candidate in the NT in a decision that has upset Labor’s serving senator, Trish Crossin.

Ms Gillard said she had engaged “in a captain’s pick’’ in endorsing the Olympic hockey gold medallist over Senator Crossin…

“There has never been an indigenous Australian who has served as a federal Labor representative,’’ she said.

“I’m determined that at the 2013 election we change that.’’

Let’s be clear. Gillard has given no reason for replacing Crossin with Peris other than that Peris is Aboriginal - and Crossin is not.

Nothing has been said about Crossin being less talented, less hard-working, less loyal. The public explanation for the move is entirely about Nova being of one “race” - and Crossin not.

The Australian Human Rights Commission is normally red hot against this kind of discrimination, and says there is a law against it:

Gillard dumps Labor Senator for not being black

I don't usually disagree with you, Lakeland, but having spent 10 years or so as an ALP member, I am absolutely shocked at the actions they are taking now.  Trish Crossin was an effective member for her constituents, even if not well known outside the NT.  Then there are Labor's actions regarding refugees, taking money away from single parents ... they are not the party they once were ... and should still be.

And bless you (((Doug Cameron))) for having the guts to talk out.

Out of all the Labor MP's I think I love Doug Cameron the most.... I am usually so totally opposite to his views and opinions but lately I have had to agree with him. I really feel sorry for him as he has good grounding and has stayed true to his values and I feel it is good men like him that have been disheartened the most by the Labor party of late.

Doug's good value ... always has been IMO.  However, he's probably been put on the "to get rid of next list".

Doogie got it right this time but he's a wild card that can not stop commenting on everything.

Doogie is another UK union cast off who has found a place here in the Labor party.

Only in Australia can we see the myriad overseas union bosses taken into the Australian Labor party.

Makes you wonder if they could have made it in their own country.

I think its great that the ALP wants an aboriginal senator..however I too believe the PM went the wrong way about it but at the same can see why.

I feel sorry for all those active aboriginal members of the ALP, those that have worked hard and proved they are worthy of a "promotion" that were not even considered to be bumped into the position. Simply because they are not "famous".

I also feel sorry for Crossin too (who also comes across as very unhappy about this)...put so many years into serving her ALP now to be demoted yet doesnt appear to have done anything wrong to warrant that.

It actually speaks volumes about MS Peris too....and its been fun learning about her. I didn't know that she was a grandma at 40 for example!

I had a meeting with Trish Crossin a few years back.  We talked about a particular issue.  She became very interested during the meeting, and ended up being quite passionate about wanting to fix things.  Two years later ... there were considerable improvements to the situation.

No, she's not high profile, she hasn't won gold medals, but it's my belief that she has put in the work to make things better ...

Wonder what would happen if a white person said this

Nova Peris will be 'just a maid' to Labor: Minister

POLITICIANS are divided over PM Julia Gillard's decision to back Nova Peris as a candidate, with one critic calling the Olympian a "maid" who will "do the sheets and serve cups of tea".

The Northern Territory's Indigenous Affairs Minister Alison Anderson said the Prime Minister was "dragged kicking to preselect an Aboriginal person."

"I don't think Territorians know her, especially Aboriginal people out in remote Aboriginal communities," she said.

"And I don't think she understands the poverty and disadvantage of the remote Territory. , The Northern Territory News reports.

She said Ms Peris would be treated like a "maid to do the sheets and serve the cups of tea".

Ms Anderson - who was a former NT Labor minister - said Aboriginal people were "welcome on the verandas of the Labor Party".

The Prime Minister has said that we will have a maid inside the house."

Her claims come after Labor Party members in the Northern Territory are seething at the move to install the Olympian to replace Senator Trish Crossin at the next election.

Fallout from Prime Minister Julia Gillard's decision to go over the heads of the NT branch members of the party and "parachute" Ms Peris into the role continued

You can expect nothing else from Labor. They have been treating the NT as an experiment for years.

I have nothing against Nova but it goes to character to be a part of such a slimy deal.

Labor are in deep trouble, they know it, so they pick winners or celebs, but in this case it has backfired badly, the electorate are a wake up to her sleazy political manoeuvres.

I think this will get "interesting"

1. Gillard ignores an aboriginal candidate and senior party operative  (Mundine) in favour of Carr a few months back.

2. Gillard promotes Nova - who was not even a party member at the time of the nomination (she apparently joined the next day) - in favour of a long-term sitting member (who co-incidentally was also a Rudd supporter). Her argument is that we need an indigenous senator (which she could have had months ago).

Are we headed to a Rudd V Turnbull showdown???
