A 35-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death after she allegedly crashed into a house in Perth's northern suburbs and killed a baby sleeping in his room.
The driver lost control of her utility at 2.30am (WST) on Friday, in Merriwa, and mounted a median strip before crashing through a wooden fence and ploughing into the rear of the home.
The family of eight-month-old victim Nate Troy Dunbar told the media on Friday they were still trying to come to terms with their loss.
Grandfather Stephen Clarke said Nate was an amazing little boy.
"I just don't have the words to express how I feel at the moment ... so sad," he said.
Mr Clarke also thanked police and ambulance officers for their help, and the media for their sympathy.
The woman was taken to Joondalup Health Campus as a precaution.
She has since been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on February 11.
Police say they will be investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

You don't.
You never get over it but you just learn to live with the pain. It doesn't matter who caused it or why it happened, the pain is no less.:-( so sad.

I am sitting here with tears runing down my face. I lost a son and a grandson both to natural causes and that was hard enough.
But to put a little one to bed in the safety on your own home and have him killed makes it very much harder to accept.
RIP little one.

I just saw this on the news. I don't understand it. The house seemed to be a fair distance from the road and the woman would have had to mount a curb, she hit a tree and yet still managed to drive straight through the back fence and house.
How does that happen? She must have been asleep at the wheel and totally out of it.

What a terrible tragedy.
I don't believe I could ever get over it. But I would endeavour to move past it and accept that a sadness will live with me for my whole life.
So shocked and saddened for this family...an awful time for them.
