EGG on face yet again for this failure of a govt..... LIes Lies and more LIES from them...
Prime Minister Julia Gillard reverses Labor's Victorian hospital funding cuts
THE $107 million cut to Victorian hospitals has been reversed by Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
Ms Gillard announced the backdown in what she called a "rescue package" that could be passed on to hospitals immediately.
Hospitals have announced plans to cut about 20,000 elective surgeries over the next four months, close 350 hospital beds, shut overnight emergency departments and axe staff because of the funding brawl between the federal and state governments.
The hospitals affected ranged from the Royal Children's, The Alfred and Peter MacCallum to Bendigo, Colac and Lilydale.
It will be paid for through the extraordinary step of ripping away other money earmarked for Victoria for occupational health and safety and will "count against" future projects

Ted and his cabal have been outflanked. thats why they are being so gracious about it all.
the result (straight to the hospitals rather than let the state govt siphon it off again) is a win for the hospitals despite Ted.

well they can't be any worse than the Qld state govt who are decimating hospitals. my 86 year old dad is in hospital at the moment waiting to go into care and all the nurses and orderlies are just waiting for their redundancies. they are already overworked. the labor govt is far from perfect but vote in the others and things will be much much worse very quickly.

Plibersek today.....
The States are lying..... we have not cut any funding, they are all getting an increase...
We are reversing the funding cut and paying the money directly to hospitals.
Baillieu is lying... we have not cut funding, he has.... but we are restoring the payment but giving it directly to the hospitals.
?????????????????????????
I don't get it....

Health minister Tanya Plibersek said Prime Minister Julia Gillard had written to other states to say she would consider restoring funding to hospitals after a readjustment of population forecast figures in October had resulted in a $404 million shortfall this financial year.

Now she said they had increased funding to all states.... and that the states were telling lies... Many a cabinet minister has come out and accused Campbell Newman of lying when he said the government had cut funding to Health... so what is this consideration of restoring funding that Plibersek is talking about??
Restoring what funding??? I thought she said that no funding was cut??????

what don't you get?
in Plibersek's door stop she said many many times that there had been no funding cuts...
Yet she then went on to say that funding had been restored... so funding had in fact been cut...
She said the states have been telling lies and that no funding had been cut yet then says that Gillard sent a letter out to the other States to discuss their funding cuts and the possibility of them being restored...
So I don't get that in one sentence she says the funding was not cut, the next she says it is being restored and then in the next sentence she says again that there were no cuts...

the problem with this is the herald sun beffuddling readers as always. if there was time and space for the mother of all scrollers or a link to a more reputable source (which so far doesn't seem available) it might be understood better. overall, the federal funding for hospitals is up.
the state has failed to match it out of its revenues as per the agreement.

hang on... if the funding is up then what are the cuts about??????
