Well it's not possible to prove Jesus' teaching without appealing to scripture. 

BTW there're numerous things allegedly said or done by Jesus that will shock you. Well, can't really do it without quoting scripture. But Jesus' love is conditional as GOdsman said earlier.

Do you believe Jesus is human? DO you believe he is perfect? Do you believe everything Jesus teaches or God commands is good? 

If yes then, it won't shock you.

PS Clair we can place offerings on our Buddhist altar. Fruit is popular. Incense. Water. I used to offer fruit and water. Now I just offer incense. I'm a slacker.
