Hello Karen, sorry .. I must have missed your post further back ..
, I've just arrived home after a hectic couple of hours in the city with a crowd of musicians. Managed to get absolutely drenched getting from the car to the door, bucketing down, thunder, the whole lot, and after a few minutes, stopped completely of course .. sigh!

Um, Buzz, not quite sure what you are referring to? Coffin? What is it you are looking at?

Oh dear, I think I'd better explain that what you think is a "coffin" is actually a custom made case for my bass viola da gamba which is about the same size as a cello .... and the "witch", if you look closer, is a kookaburra on the wall made from copper from a local gallery .....
as are the other Australian birds hung around the walls. The camera isn't exactly a professional one and taken in that kind of light, just getting dark, it's hard to see clearly what is what ... ![]()

It's okay Flannie, it is hard to see exactly what the shapes are, and if they have never seen a viola da gamba case before, it does look a bit like a "coffin" might ... it's a wonderful work of art and made by the same luthier who built the instrument for me, a wonderful artisan who lives in Castlemaine. The design is the Fleur de Lys that I requested he add to it and it's on the instrument as well, because it reminds me of Quebec xx
