my mil had a lot of cactus plants that would flower around this time - she called them her christmas lights.
the colours were stunning, ranging from cream to pinks and reds and a few purplish ones too.

I have a New Zealand Christmas Tree (at least, Im told that's what it's called) that bursts into mass of beatiful red flowers every year without fail in the week before Christmas

My lawnmower was dying slowly. I almost broke my foot kicking it.
The non English speaking people next door learned lots of new colourful words from me.
I got sick and tired of hearing their new swear words so I bought a new lawn mower.
