There is always someone that will buy one and then bleed the misfortunate.
I read the thread here(ebay Au) about the apartments and retirement. It's the same here....many won't be able to afford to retire. There are cheaper places to live here....much cheaper, if you don't mind moving a thousand miles from all the people you know....friends, family.

Good morning
nice pictures Jimmeh
There are huge differences in house prices and council rates in Oz from inner Sydney to country Victoria
Some people who bought 40 years ago in Sydney as cheap housing are now sitting on Million $$ plus houses and dont have a cent to buy food, if they sold up they could have a comfortable life style, just not in inner Sydney.

Love pics and I like hearing about how things in life really are for people living in other countries. A lot different than just visiting.
Morning all, the cat ^^^^^is about how I feel. Really need to move and go into town but can't find my motivation anywhere..........have any of you seen it ?

Forgot to say that I haven't seen any pics of Mongolia yet. OH got to Darwin and was asked to go back to Mongolia so another 3/4 weeks without seeing him. He got to spend some time in the capitol (can't remember the name) and looked around a bit. Went to the state run department store, walked around abit etc. He was told to be careful of being mugged ! didn't think crime would be like that....what you imagine a place to be like is never what it is I suppose.
He was fine btw.
really should get going now, enjoy Monday if you can LOL

Morning all.
Interesting pics and coversation Jimmeh.
Rents here are getting a bit expensive. The young ones will have to get out of the clubs, forget online spending on unecessary stuff, and start to save if they want to save a deposit for a home. I suspect saving is not as high a priority as it was when my generation were teens and twenties. I would hate the idea of retiring and having to rent.

Jimmeh - how do service workers on low wages afford accommodation? Travel into the city from outlying areas?
People from all the different incomes (including the rich) travel into the city for work. I could make more money if worked there, but the drive in and back really takes its toll. I did it for 1 1/2 years and I'll never do it again! It takes me about an 1 1/2 to get to Manhatten driving and even if I took the train it would take almost as long. It's a real grind!
I read an article a few days ago that a record number of college grads are living home with their parents. I think a lot of people get married because of this. It's a lot easier to get by on 2 incomes....maybe that's why the divorce rate is so high. Once one or both start making good money....you know what they say about the grass looking greener on the other side.
