Goodlife Music Festival - is it safe for a 14 year old?

Has anyone had their kids go before?

My 14year old wants to get a ticket but music festivals (even under 18 ones) make me slightly nervous.

What's the security like?

I allowed my 15yo for the first time to attend 1D Concert this yr on her own.

by on her own, I mean without an adult. She went with her friend who is the same age.

I allowed my 15yo for the first time to attend 1D Concert this yr on her own.  Allphones Arena.  Allocated seats though and the security is pretty tight. I received a call from her friend's parent asking a lot of questions re security etc as it was also her daughter's first time without adult supervision at a large event.

My personal opinion?  Its a tough one, I'm leaning towards no.

Personal youtube videos are probably a better indication of what goes on as opposed to official promotions.

Hmmm, having watched that clip and another by the same person, I dont think I'd be letting my 14yo go. It may be an under 18 event, but my guess is most of them are much closer to 18 than 14. Easy for me to say though, my 14yo would HATE that kind of music and environment so its not a decision I'd really have to make. They dont tone the language down considering the crowd is youngish either, not that the swearing worries me, I just wasnt expecting it.

I wonder if you can get any information on previous events from the police, see if there were any reports of trouble or drug use?

Patrons ID checked at security discretion

All patrons have their bag checked

All patrons are patted down for prohibited items

All patrons are metal detected

All patrons are breathalysed at point of entry and during the event if required.

If all the above are complied with, it seems safe enough, I guess...

My mum would not let me go to the Rolling Stones Concert in 1972, I was 16.  I never forgave her Woman Tongue

Re: Goodlife Music Festival - is it safe for a 14 year old?

My (then) 14 year old daughter went with 5 friends last year and had a great time ... no troubles at all.

Her friend's Mum drove them there and picked them up. She already has tickets for the next one.

I've always told my kids I would be age appropriate and fair, and that if I said no to something I really didn't think they should be doing it. All 3 feel that I am fair in this ( older ones now 20 and 23 ). They never snuck around behind my back like I did with my too strict parents. They have to grow up and learn how to survive in the world. You know your child best ๐Ÿ™‚

Missed this question - sorry.

We had decided to let him go. But then we realised we are coming back from a cruise the very same day.

So he misses out this year poor thing.
