I think a 12 month sentence is reasonable. Tattoos are permanent and should be done by a registered/liscenced tattooist. If tools used aren't clean/ sterilised they can spread serious diseases.The sentence should be a deterrent for anyone else tempted to give an unwanted tattoo.
I saw an awful pic of a tattoo by a guy who worked from his kitchen in the news the other day. The woman wanted an Alice in wonderland type tattoo over her whole back. He did the outline all over her back and it wasn't a clear line it had dots all along it,like when you hold an ink pen down too long. He had done one coloured bit and it was all smudgey. It was in the UK I think..the lady paid ยฃ100 for it, but would cost about ยฃ3000 to get it removed. She took the guy to court.

A reference was tendered to the court on behalf of a Gold Coast church where Lord works.
Judge Greg Koppenol described the tattoo as "appalling" and said Lord and Brady had taken advantage of a vulnerable man. "It was a miserable offence," Judge Koppenol said. "You acted miserably towards a vulnerable young man with a significant disability."
Lord was sentenced to 12 months prison, with a parole release date on March 12.

well at least he can work on his tattooing skills while incarcerated.
