The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) has accused the federal government of duplicity after details of its new public sector enterprise bargaining policy were revealed to the union.

These details reveal that the government plans to start making radical cuts to the pay and conditions of 160,000 of its employees within weeks. These plans include:

  • significant cuts to employment conditions and allowances
  • all pay rises to be linked to trade-offs in conditions
  • wage increases from between 0% to a maximum of 2.5% depending on employees accepting reduced rights and entitlements
  • no central negotiations with the CPSU
  • tightly directed control of what agencies are allowed to negotiate.
  • CPSU national secretary Nadine Flood said “The Coalition government is telling us it is not ready to talk about bargaining, yet it appears it has all but drafted the fine print on a highly-aggressive policy to cut real wages, conditions and rights.
  • “Under this government’s approach, public sector workers are facing a double whammy. Firstly thousands of jobs are being cut and the remaining staff are being flogged harder to get the work done. Secondly, no-one is going to get a pay rise that keeps up with inflation, unless they agree to have their rights and conditions cut.

    “As we saw with SPC Ardmona and Toyota, this government is more interested in having a political go at workers and unions than making fair and productive workplace agreements.

I work for the government and I would love to negotiate my wage. I am not even part of the union yet they get to decide my fate. I have no say as the law says that only the union can negotiate the wage and conditions. I refuse to join the union as they pay money to the Labor party and I don't think that is right as I don't support the Labor party at all. 

 

I know of one group of employees that get a $3000 yearly travel bonus for study. They all get it even though only one or two out of the 20 have ever traveled for study in the past 4 years that I know of.

maybe any wage increases negotiated by the Union in the past or in future could be donated to something of your choice. Maybe donate it to Newman, I hear he is struggling financially.

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman's base salary now almost matches that of US President Barack Obama, following the pay rise the government awarded MPs last week.

Opposition leader Annastacia Palaszczuk released the new pay schedules of Queensland MPs on Tuesday, following the publication in the Member's Entitlement Handbook on Monday night.

Under the new pay schedule, Mr Newman will receive a base salary of $398,271, a $117,623 increase from what his salary was when he went on holidays just last week.

Under the Aged Care Workforce Compact introduced as part of the Labor government’s Living Longer Living Better policy, many aged-care workers were scheduled to receive minimum annual wage increases of 2.75 per cent, backdated to July.

The Coalition vowed during the election campaign to take the $1.2 billion allocated to the “Workforce Compact” over four years but to keep it in the general aged-care budget.

The office of outgoing Labor minister for mental health and ageing, Jacinta Collins, said 248 aged-care ­providers had applied for the subsidy by August 20.

“It looks like the [Coalition’s] first act in the job will be to put the knife to the pay of Australia’s 350,000 strong aged-care workforce,” a spokeswoman for Senator Collins said.

The tragic reality is that the ­Coalition will rip these pay increases out of the pockets of hard-working nurses and aged-care workers at a time when we need to help the aged-care workforce almost triple in size by 2050 to meet the demands of the ageing population.”

Is this Federal or State PS? I ask because in all my years living and working in Canberra I never heard of this. All allowances outside of normal wages and salaries had to be fully acquitted. I knows this because part if my job in two separate depts was to process acquittals. Allowances paid but not fully accounted for had to be repaid.
The old days of making money off TA are long gone.
