Every time I have a look at one of the days papers, the PM or a minister or the treasurer seem intent on displaying their inherent arrogance for the rest of us to see....from smirking, smoking cigars, dancing around like a prat, inappropriate comments, winking....and these are supposed to be the "adults in charge", give us a break.
Defence minister labels public servants 'fat and happy'
A union director has called on Defence Minister David Johnston to apologise to the ranks of civilian public servants he is about to sack after labelling them "fat and happy" in a radio interview.
He made the comment on ABC Radio Riverina a week after the budget which observers now say will reduce staff numbers by 2500, as opposed to the 1200 widely reported using the budget's headline figures.
It also comes as 150 staff will be cut from the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
ACT director of the Professionals Australia union David Smith said the minister's comments were “utterly offensive”.

Paints, yes another in a growing line of arrogant "adults in charge".

he was quoted as saying that the number of public servants was 'too fat and happy' not the actual people Boris.
He is a legal beagle. Just what we need more of in govt, more lawyers/barristers to manage our country and economy.

it's still offensive, especially when so many people will be losing their jobs...
ACT director of the Professionals Australia union David Smith said the minister's comments were “utterly offensive”.
“We call on the minister to apologise to the thousands of Defence civilians who play a critical role in ensuring our forces are operational," Mr Smith said.
He said according to the budget Defence's 20,600 civilian employees would be cut to 18,100 over the forward estimates, which meant there would be 2,500 jobs lost.
“Tell a pilot that they don’t need an engineer," Mr Smith said.
“We are talking about intelligence analysts, engineers, scientists and defence specialists – these people play an essential role in Defence
“It is time that the minister realised, the civilian workforce is much more than just support – they provide Defence with direct capability.
“The minister’s comments reveal that there needs to be a complete shift in thinking.
“The civilian workforce in Defence delivers essential role - services to our troops and our nation."

abbott winking and smirking his way through a radio interview....it has been suggested he forgot it was being filmed.

Yes Boris, totally unacceptable. But being a barrister he is probably used to saying whatever he wants where he was apparently for 20 years of his working life, I am guessing. Not making excuses for what he said but as you state-arrogance is the problem here. Choice of words shows absolutely NO RESPECT for these Defence workers.
Totally inappropriate and unacceptable. Complete arrogance like you say.

It's quite easy to see when he remembered 😄
He looked like he wanted to ask for her number until she mentioned grand children 😄
