Deeply disappointing news today.
The Environment Minister Greg Hunt has just approved a massive dredging project that risks the future of our World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef.

"When in opposition, Greg Hunt campaigned against dredging in Port Phillip Bay and referred to dredge spoil as dangerous "toxic sludge" that harms the marine environment and would devastate the local tourism industry".
How much changed his mind?

After you've increased your knowledge base by learing about the Lima Declaration of March 1975
perhaps you could list all the Aussie manufacturers who no longer make consumer items in Australia
For example, do some basic research into the country of origin of so-called 'Aussie' consumer items such as stoves, washing machines, refrigerators, clothing, foodstuffs etc. etc. etc.
Where are 'Aussie' icons such as Simpsons, Malleys, Kelvinator, Westinghouse whitegoods made these days?
Or are you suggesting Australian wokers are relocated in Asia by manufacturers in order they can continue making items there ?

You say Australian jobs have not gone overseas?
Are you claiming, therefore, that all the sacked Aussies who used to be employed in Australian banks etc. were relocated overseas? Are you suggesting that? If so, would you explain why they suddenly developed foreign accents

You claim Aussie jobs were not sent overseas
A casual observance of most clothing currently for sale in Australian stores reveals those items to have been produced in Asia. Of late, huge amounts of those items reveal them to have been made in Bangladesh
Did Australian manufacturers such as Bonds, etc., relocate Aussie workers to Bangladesh?
Are you aware of the thriving rag-trade industry which used to exist in Australia? Where are those workers today? Why are the factories in which they worked now being redeveloped as housing? What happened to all those sacked Aussie workers if they were not relocated to places such as Bangladesh? Are they unemployed? Were their jobs sent overseas? Or are you claiming Aussie workers were sent overseas to continue working there in 3rd world sweat-shops?

you find an awful lot that isn't there and wasn't said. if you are replying to me, you are on a different topic.. or putting words in my mouth. as for the content of those posts, as the son of an aussie manufacturer myself i can assure you he never sent anyones job o'seas. the volume the company manufactured declined (long after his death) due to decreased demand. basically the product was good, but the price was too high compared to imports. nobody took or sent jobs anywhere, the high dollar and first world wages caused them to leave as an economic consequence. its how a government handles the fallout that matters.

Yet another bad decision made by this Government.
