Greens dream of ways to ruin us

Maurice Newman says the world stopped warming nearly two decades ago, yet the Greens still demand we ruin ourselves to avert the alleged danger:

“LEAVE fossil fuels in the ground,” Greens leader Christine Milne says. “Renewable energy is the future.” “Coal is a stranded asset.” “It’s driving global warming.” “It’s a huge risk to the planet,” she adds, lest we miss the point.

Milne’s prescription for a vibrant Australian economy includes “keeping the renewable energy target at 41,000 gigawatt-hours”, “stopping new coalmines”, “no coal-seam gas’’ and “no new ports”. “Jobs will come from green energy,” Milne assures us…

Clearly Milne is unaware of the cost to California, Europe and Britain of their ultra green embrace.

The Golden State’s energy prices are 40 per cent above the US national average, plunging its manufacturing and agricultural regions into depression, with one in five living in poverty.

Researchers at Spain’s King Juan Carlos University have found renewable energy programs destroyed 2.2 jobs for every green one created.

A study by Verso Economics commissioned by the Scottish government concluded that for every job in the wind industry, 3.7 jobs were lost elsewhere.

Oh my god:

Sun always shines on Green optimists! NSW House of Representatives, Hansard, Wednesday:

JEREMY Buckingham (the Australian Greens): The future of regional NSW will be built on education, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

Peter Phelps (Liberal): Baseload solar?

Buckingham: Absolutely.

Phelps: How much solar energy is produced at midnight?

Buckingham: It depends where it is in the world. It is always midday somewhere.

We just need one of those long extension cords that reaches to California. Apply to Buckingham for your own.

Greens dream of ways to ruin us

It may well cost money and jobs in the short term to clean up our environment but not all of us are incapable of thinking beyond our own lifespan.

I have a great grandson and, in the natural course of events, one day he will have a great grandson. what state do you imagine our planet will be in by the time that child is born if we don't do something NOW to find renewable energy sources and stop pumping s**t into our atmosphere?

The Greens take a holistic approach to governance and are not solely ruled by the dollar or friends in high places - some independants have a similar approach. Enough of the greedy, lying and heartless politicians of all persuasions, its time for a change and to make this country something to once again be proud of.

People like Maurice Newman should shut up or stand for election and stop manipulating govt to suit their own agenda and fill their own pockets.  He is a greedy thing out to get as much as he can for himself. He give not a fook give about the community, the country or the citizens.

I often think about everyone's grandchildren and their descendants.

4 degrees warmer by 2100 is unimaginable.  Whole communities will perish.

Fact check: How Maurice Newman misrepresents science to claim future global cooling

August 2014

Picking over the climate science denialist claims of Tony Abbott’s top business advisor

Maybe Maurice Newman was hoping nobody would check.

In an opinion column yesterday, the climate science denying (yes, I just said it right up front) former ABC chairman and head of the Prime Minister’s business advisory council launched into another of his embarrassing attacks on climate science and the laws of physics.

The column, which warned of a concocted threat of “global cooling”,made several remarkable and wrong scientific claims, cherry-picked evidence, misrepresented findings and, in at least one case, badly misrepresented the views of a British scientist.

......More in link

Fair and balanced?

Earlier this month, the Australian Press Council updated its overarching principles to “ensure that factual material” is accurate and not misleading. The change extended the principles reach from just “news reports” to material “elsewhere” which has been taken to mean opinion columns.

In principle three on fairness and balance, the APC says even when a writer expresses an opinion, it should not be done “based on significantly inaccurate factual material or omission of key facts”.

The Australian has been hostile to the changes.

You have to wonder if Newman’s latest is a bit of a test run?
