Guns and immaturity would be a more apt title DY, but yes to your comment in that guns tend to be  a phallic symbol for  younger males, as are some cars,  especially the larger (???) V8 ones.

I find knives or thugs with knives more frightening, even though they generally do less damage.

I think you have to be pretty tough to get close enough to knife someone, not so with a gun.

Because they have a 'big' thing about weapons making them tough and appealing, it shows often in movies etc glamourizing it.

I find it a turn off myself, a bit like body builders with tattoos YUK!

A confident man does not need any of the above, they will fight with their hands if they need to, they don't need to 'appear' strong to appeal to a woman.
