Do not like the show, but may watch it because the stories I have heard of Hillsong are quite jaw dropping.
Nothing wrong with making money, though I think the lord may have a problem if you use him/her to accumilate personal wealth in their name.

I noticed you mentioned earlier that it wasn't cheap so was curious and had a look.
It's cool. I missed it last year because of planning the wedding etc. No way I was going to miss it this year. So many Christian speakers from all over the world. I would have liked to see Joyce Meyer but she isn't coming this year. I like her pull no punches style. She is like a preacher version of Judge Judy lol.
Whilst it is hosted by Hillsong, it isn't them preaching / recruiting or whatever else people think lol. It is by all accounts and incredibly powerful experience. 10000+ Christians in the one place worshipping and sharing. I can't wait.
My experience with Gifting is the same Meep. We don't gift on a Sunday. I donate the ingredients for the cooking that we do on a Thursday to put on morning tea and lunch on a Thursday for our local community. THe thing I like about the Church I go to is once a month Barb, our Financial Officer, actually gives a report to the congregation after our Sunday morning service. She details all the incomings and outgoings. Every cent is accounted for. Donations to needy in the community, petrol usage for the bus / truck to go to Sydney to pick up food donations for hampers, admin costs (printing etc), electricity, water usage, rent etc etc. If they are really lucky...our Pastor's sometimes actually get a small income ! They use their own cars, not leased to the Church, they rent their home and are on call 24 hours. It is nothing to see Pete out mowing someone's lawn, take another shopping, off to visit someone in prison and then put on a BBQ for a family doing it tough.

It will be more than double that if its full capacity. Yep, pretty awesome experience.
I took part in the World Youth Day in Syd, unforgettable experience. Loved it.

I am Christened Catholic but now attend a non-denominational Christian Church. Bree did her First Communion 2 years ago. We have been going to this Church since March last year. We were very uncomfortable with the local Catholic Church here and encountered ALOT of Sunday Christians. Our new Church feels like coming home to family. I have always disagreed with alot of the Catholic teachings and have always been vocal about it. I am not anti-Catholic. I just worship at a different Church. Kieran, Brianna and I also chose to be re-baptised late last year too...Symbolic of our new commitment and making the choice for us, not just accepting the choice of our parents. We were actually Baptised in the ocean nearby. It was an amazing day, shared with our Church Family and friends.

"the stories I have heard of Hillsong are quite jaw dropping."
Jaw dropping is the fact that so many pedophiles are gathered in one place, and they haven't even been caught yet-what a bunch of foul nutters.
on 19-02-2013 02:13 PM
who are the pedophiles?
on 19-02-2013 02:15 PM
That is a very, very serious allegation to be posting here IMO.
