Do not like the show, but may watch it because the stories I have heard of Hillsong are quite jaw dropping.
Nothing wrong with making money, though I think the lord may have a problem if you use him/her to accumilate personal wealth in their name.

Bella, the issue with personal income tax was that they donate their wages back to the Church, which then pays the bills. So, no tax.

Azure I thought they meantThey donate the earnings back from love offerings and other enterprises to avoid tax?. Tracey clearly said in the last 30 seconds that they pay personal taxes. Thats how I took it anyway. For alot of years current affairs programs and disgruntled people have been trying to prove Hillsong is a have. None of them have actually proved anything yet significant enough to be investigated yet. As for the tithing no different than the Catholic church and every other church that believes in tithing (all the mainstream churches).
I am not so keen on their methods mind, talking about money constantly and implying that if you give you will get something out of it. If you want to give you give not for what you want but for how you can help make a difference. So totally disagree with those methods.
Oh and its not right that houses were sold and put back into the Leadership ministry to avoid taxes. They should be contributing to this great country of ours.
I do think where a mega church is making that kind of money they should be sowing it back into Australia through taxes. If the church is blessed the country should be blessed so to speak.

I read some other articles about the tax thing, I don't give much credence to ACA for fair reporting.
As for tithing, I have never ever been asked to pay 10% of our income to our Church. I do know my SIL's OH pays 10% to his (Christian) Church.

God doesn't demand a fixed amount of money from us; he wants us to give from the heart. If people are forced by their church to give a certain percent of their income, that's extortion. If they give freely and cheerfully the amount they are able, that's a gift.

the tithe was introduced to christian churches by charismatics, its spelt out for jews in the last book of the old testament Malachi ? i think . its use in christian churches is a convenient fund raising tool, but not neccesarily gospel.. its not even spelt out that clearly and can be interpreted as admonishment to the clergy as much as anything else..

$279 for a single adult?
that is a lot....i didn't pay that much for floor seats to see JB at the same venue
It is a conference that goes over several days with numerous speakers and bands. You are paying for 3 days of "entertainment / education" for want of better words. From memory it is 3-4 sessions a day. We also got group discounts as there are about 60 of us going. Even at full rate it makes it just over $25 a session...pretty good rate I think.

No, neither have I. I would like to support my Catholic Church Parish. If it was to close, I would feel lost without it. The building has to be maintained, electricity paid, the priest is on call 24/7 to visit the sick, he needs a reliable car. The rest goes to charities. There have been many times when I was unable to donate any money during Mass (the plate collection). No one actually watches anyone to make sure they place money on "the plate", contrary to popular belief.
