its' not only the insult and indeed assault to you, but if it involves children and rock spiders, then it has to be taken further via police. You need to ask yourself whether the links in question, give rise to any concerns over the welfare of a child? If so, you know what you have to do.
...but first, ask a programmer to take a good look at the logs to find out when, how, and maybe who uploaded them. That way you can satisfy yourself that you won't be implicated in something that renders you as much a victim as those possibly being preyed upon in the links in question. Even so, it is a federal offense to hack a site or email so it's worth pursuing if you have evidence of blatant hacking.
First thing to do is find out who and when - the IP's used to plant those links, can be searched to see if they're serial hackers, or been banned from other sites etc....but many will have proxies to hide behind...
Without question, you should ban every single one of those....... nobody uses a proxy unless they intend to cause trouble....but there's a lot more information than that to pursue in the logs, and police will be able to track it further than you can.
