Hairdresser 'rulings' make a mockery of social distance messaging

Totally agree, if you a meant to be staying at home, why do you need to attend a hairdresser? Surely people aren't that vain at a time like this?

Somebody recently approached me and asked, "What is a pandemic"? The same person then asked, "Can you explain what pneumonia is"? There would be little point in saying to this person that they must practice social distancing because this pandemic has the potential to cause fatal pneumonia. They need to be adequately educated and informed too for their and our sakes. The Government needs to realize this.

I hope you took the time to explain - in simple words.

That is their education.

Yes I did, or I think and hope so. But you can never be sure that it did sink in!

So far, 14 ppl in Aus have died of the virus.

All due respect to the deceased and their families.

But bring Australia to a standstill over it?

Get a grip!

It's great to be complacent and look on the bright side:

JAN 22
“We have it totally under control. ... It’s going to be just fine.”
JAN 30
“We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully. But we’re working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it’s going to have a very good ending for it. So that I can assure you.”
FEB 24
“The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. … Stock market starting to look very good to me”
FEB 25
“You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are … getting better. They’re all getting better. … As far as what we’re doing with the new virus, I think that we’re doing a great job.”
FEB 26
“And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done."
FEB 28
“It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
MARCH 2
"We had a great meeting today with a lot of the great companies and they're going to have MARCH 6
“Anybody that needs a test, gets a test. They’re there. They have the tests. And the tests are beautiful.”
MARCH 9
“So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on.

MARCH 12
“It’s going to go away. ... The United States, because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point … when you look at the kind of numbers that you’re seeing coming out of other countries, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it.”

MARCH 17
“Federal Government is working very well with the Governors and State officials. Good things will happen!”

—

Donald Trump

With more than 104,000 confirmed cases of the novel corona-virus, the United States is now the epicenter of the global pandemic. Trump said he just wants governors to be “appreciative” of what the White House is doing to address the crisis. “I don’t want them to say things that aren’t true,” he said. "I want them to be appreciative me.”

So once again this year we see our country in crisis and once again we see a poster blathering on like an idiot.

I do sincerely hope no one from here gets sick, or worse, from this. I don't care what their hair looks like.

That's one of the problems with society as they will still say yes even though they may not have understood

things clearly.

Most people these days have at least one mobile phone per household and I received that brief Telstra

message about social distancing but there has been no follow up message.

Phones are the quickest and easiest way to get a message across these days and in a case like this there

should be follow up messages to make certain the messages are understood.

The government knows what sort of "intelligence" people in Aus have due to the education system yet when

they provide some messages they are not clearly understood because the message is to brief or sounds like

gobbledygook to some.

Pity the children and their children if the adults are so

stupid and poorly educated.

And all shopping plazas and supermarkets should be doing what ours does ........... have notices everywhere explaining social distancing with large diagrams of what 1.5 metres looks like.  Also large marks on the floor of where to stand in queues.  If someone doesn't know what pneumonia is then they're seriously lacking .........  or winding people up.

Yes, some are lacking, but I personally would not regard them as stupid. I would prefer to describe them as not that bright.

welcome to the population of a country, there really are people who have no idea about many things we take for granted

not huge numbers but they are out there.

like the nongs photographed on bondi beach.

mostly normal sensible aussies, but yet there they are ignoring everything they are being told.

and possibly getting skin cancer to boot!

it like when there is a cyclone, we see idjuts out surfing or standing on rocks near a cliff whilst the water splashes over them.

or trying for that perfect selfy, whoo hoo, look mum i'm oooops, dead!

when people throw up italy or now spain as examples of this virus being crazy scarey i say,

but italy was a basket case before the virus, i expect spain too.

here we have a pretty darn good public hospital sytem quite well paid for by the medicare levy.

it could be better.

lets just see how the great USA manages with their user pays system.

as you said, for all the yelling our little old system has coped pretty well

just 14 dead till now.

the govt should have acted faster with closing borders but ya cant turn back time.

it is what it is.

we now know we were under prepared for something like this.

hopefully we learn from it

not all enemies arrive on boats carrying guns

we are spending billions on subs and tanks ect

its medical stuff we ought to be investing in

I especially liked - Italy & Spain - described as basket cases.

Ever been to either. ????

Yes, Italy and Spain  basket cases.  What a yobbo  comment.  .

I've lived in both and imo they are  light years ahead of us in many respects.

I feel devastated for them.
