Once again we see the Topic of Same Sex Marriage/Equality being bantered around in Behind Closed Doors of Political Party Rooms in our Nations Capital City, Canberra ACT, and other areas.
Two very important avenues come out of this consideration, and they are:
1. Should the Federal Government Political Party in Power, & the Opposition Party, agree to Introducing Same
Sex Marriage Laws into the Australian Federal Law System ?
2. Should there be a "Separation" between Church & State ?
The Answer to........ .
The Answer to the above Questions are not easy or straight forward to answer. Both are complicated and are steeped in
our Australian Federation Constitution Ratified in the First parliament house in Australia, The Melbourne Exhibition Buildings, in Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne in 1901, Opened by HRH The Duke of Windsor.
1. Now it is important to remember and understand that our own Federal Constitution is "based" on the English Westminster System, not the USA Constitution, though our Nations Capital City, Canberra, was Designed by the American Architect, Walter Burley Griffin in 1913. This was basically brought about due to the fact that the two main Capital Cities at the time, Melbourne & Sydney, could not or "would not" agree to one or the other, to be The Capital of the New Country called Australia. jealously and competition between the two, which has continued through to today.
The Elected Federal Government Party that hold the Balance of power in the Parliament House, are the Politically Elected Representative of the Australian People. There is no way shape or form that one can shift or discount, or remove themselves from that fact. Like it or not, whichever Political Party Hold Governance over the Australian Nation, are the Political Party chosen by the Registered Voters of Australia. You cannot debate that issue, it is Law.
We Elect our Politician's to make, wise, sensible, and mature decisions about things that involve ALL AUSTRALIAN'S.
If they cannot, then the issue, if a main issue, such as Marriage Equality, should be put to the Vote Federally, by
the Registered Voters, of the Australian Nation, at the very next Federal Election. About Mid 2016.
2. Should there be a Separation between Church & State ?
Well, once again this is no easy answer to arrive at. As long Federal Government Funds are poured into Church Based
Education Venues, then it is going to be hard to remove, why ? because these "Private Education" places of learning, also
have individuals who are Registered Australian Voters, and by Church Bodies that hold a huge amount of "power" & "sway"
in both Federal Political Parties, but also where we now see "Christian" Political Parties entering Federal Government, e.g.
Family First, and others.
A Separation that may be harder to divorce ourselves from, as long as "they" have a say & hold in Federal Parliament.
