Has anyone got a Ragdoll or Birman cat?

Our 15 yr old turtle shell girl has just passed away.  We are looking at getting another cat and the Ragdoll and Birman sounds well suited to our home.  Our old cat was very feral and wasnt affectionate.  We have a golden retrievor Buddy is getting old and 11 yrs old.  We have a enclosed pegola area our the back away from weather.  Im not wanting an inside cat 24/7.  Has anyone got this breed and do you recommend them?  We are in Adelaide down south if there is any good breeders here

Re: Has anyone got a Ragdoll or Birman cat?

I had several Ragdolls and they were great.  I have put lattice extension all around my large garden, and just put wire mesh about 40cm bent inwards and none of them even tried to get out.  They had so much fun playing in the garden and climbing trees without me having to worry about them  They were also very gentle and sweet.  But they  were quite fluffy and did need some brushing.  Although I have seen some that had lot less fur, when I was looking for the next one I could not find one not so furry and so I got Burmese, who had a one look at our "cat proof" fence and was gone.  She came back and is 16 now, but she never learned to stay in the garden.  Now I also have Ragdoll cross Burmese, hoping he will have temperament of Ragdoll and coat of Burmese.  Well, I got 1/2 my wish = he looks more Burmese than anything.  But all my attempts to keep him in our garden failed.  Including Coyote Rollers and lining fences with laserlite panels.

She is chocolate and he is blue point
