Has anyone tried to recoup lost money through MLC?

Mr F's mother took out a life insurance policy for him many years ago, we found this on the Governments lost money website. We emailed MLC and received an auto reply with a reference number, after that we received an email asking further ID questions which we supplied, that's about a month ago, we haven't heard anything since.

Freddie if you found the info on the Gov site it meens they have the finds and the Gov web site you found the funds normally has the info on how to recover it from the Gov

Hawke it gave MLC as the policy holder, I contacted them via email. The policy money was scammed by the door to door salemen that sold the policy back about 55yrs ago, there's only a small amount left in the policy.

The salesman who sold the policy would have been getting his commission on the policy and if there have been no premiums paid for a number of years then the payments would have been coming out of the policy benefits.  Eventually there would be nothing left, but the saleman has not been scamming anything.

The salesman was convicted many years ago.

Well that really sucks Freddie. Could you try to go to the Ombudsmen or something ? Even if it is not a lot of money it is the principle of the matter, I am quite certain MLC could afford it! Good luck

Thanks greencat, this salesman was prosecuted, I think the story was he was collecting the money door to door and pocketing it. We will contact MLC direct.
