at night in Martin Place in 2013 plus they are specifcially trained for hostage rescue during terrorist situations.

I also wondered that and the question someone asked earlier in this thread.

For someone who lives in the quintessential part of Australia, almost iconic, surrounded probably by White Aussies

- and a heap of kiwis , it does make me wonder.

Perhaps it was considered that the "lone wolf" would be a useful diversion for any other organization that had an "intent" greater than that in Martin Place.

Therefore, the NSW Tactical Response could deal with the "smaller" scenario, whilst the Federal AFP/Army squad would be on standby for a bigger event.

there's more than enough Army people to handle another situation.

You have a complete team on the West Coast as well as the TAG-E at Holsworthy PLUS a Ready Response regiment for containment plus of course the AFP as you said.

Yes, interesting decision.

The NSW Police would have fought tooth and nail to keep it a NSW Police Operation.

maybe because AlJazeera is a respected oranisation on such subjects, and lot of the news from Middle East broadcast globally originates from AlJazeera.reporters.
