Some have been conned... not me though...
I do think the environment needs a good clean up, trees planted, rivers looked after and degraded land improved.... lots of stuff like that...
This tax is a total waste.. it will do nothing to fix these real problems and in return if the co2 is a major problem then fixing the environment with the right approach can do all of it...
People are major wasters... we are a throw away society... change that attitude and see how fast things improve.
We use too much, throw too much away and have no regard for what happens with all our waste...
I think the coalitions ideas will help improve the land and stabilise rivers...

not at all Hawk. I have been reading up .The science of it all does make sense to me.Even if it didn't ....I don't see a motive (monetary reward) for a Con ?
Re the rain forest .I've been reading up on Big trees dying (globally) and also read on Australia Rain forest sites that they naturally want to save trees and also want everyone to help by cutting down on their emissions.

the coalition will have a scheme too. thats the real con.

Iza the rain forests i am referring to are the Amazon rain forests.
Read this from Greenpeace http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/press/releases/extreme-drought-in-the-amazon/
Then when you get onto this path a little further you will find the polar ice is melting not because of a atmospheric temperature increase but because the ocean currents have changed and the warm waters are flowing further north, this can be put down to climate change and the change has nothing to do with carbon

the coalition will have a scheme too. thats the real con.
They have been creating new and creative taxes for years now out of desperation, then have just worked out how to tax the air we breath with this one

I know I dont worry about it and just use it as I always have, and its the same as water, I use it to water my lawn as I always have.
The high costs only affect the poor
Maybe some people need forced limits on what they can use ?

World's Big Trees Are Dying: Alarming Increase in Death Rates Among Trees 100-300 Years Old
Dec. 6, 2012 — The largest living organisms on the planet, the big, old trees that harbour and sustain countless birds and other wildlife, are dying.
A report by three of the world's leading ecologists in today's issue of the journal Science warns of an alarming increase in death rates among trees 100-300 years old in many of the world's forests, woodlands, savannahs, farming areas and even in cities.

Reconstruction of Earth Climate History Shows Significance of Recent Temperature Rise
Mar. 7, 2013 — Using data from 73 sites around the world, scientists have been able to reconstruct Earth's temperature history back to the end of the last Ice Age, revealing that the planet today is warmer than it has been during 70 to 80 percent of the time over the last 11,300 years.
'Clark said that other studies, including those outlined in past IPCC reports, have attributed the warming of the planet over the past 50 years to anthropogenic, or human-caused activities -- and not solar variability or other natural causes.
"The last century stands out as the anomaly in this record of global temperature since the end of the last ice age," said Candace Major, program director in the National Science Foundation's Division of Ocean Sciences, which co-funded the research with NSF's Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences. "This research shows that we've experienced almost the same range of temperature change since the beginning of the industrial revolution as over the previous 11,000 years of Earth history -- but this change happened a lot more quickly."'

Hawk, I am accountable for what I use .I am aware that we all have an effect on our environment.
