Help, please - new computer

Couple of days ago my old laptop died and I bought new one, and I am having problems.  I swear I am hitting every letter, hard and this is what  I get:    It's teribl spcially trying to enter paswords  

I am not a fast typist but I seem to be too fast for this computer; it never registers if I hit a letter 2x in quick succession.  It's driving me up the wall.  Any suggestions?  Besides taking it back...

Thanks all, i found it now, after a while.  Interestingly, the setting was for almost the highest, set it right up and it seems an improvement. 

I also went to OPTUS site to upgrade my plan and got message that they have no online plans available
