There's a neat article in the national geographic about cassowarys! Strange birds, those. Live in the northern part of Australia and parts of New Guinea. There's a picture in there of them eating a weird blue fruit called a Guandong.
Please, what is it? What does it taste like? Do you folks eat them? I really need something different - sick and tired of pinapples. Kiwi fruit are ok. Coming up next - barbecued cassuary.... (just kidding!)

Apparently, the cassowary is necessary for seed dispersal as well in the Rainforests.

Hi everybody! Icyfroth! Hello - what is "free radial scavaging ability."
And that drop bear looks like a traditional "teddy bear," but with dracula fangs! Those things are dangerous??? They look it, anyway.
I want you all to know, that I am NOT disappointed! Australia sounds like a really incredible place to be.
The problem (one of the problems) as I see it is that all of this is book learning. Books are fun, but getting the real scoop from real people is much better.
How dangerous is it to walk outdoors? I wonder if the cassuarys worry about poisonous snakes.
Oh, YEAH!!! I FORGOT!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! WHAT ABOUT DINGOS!!!!!!

The dingos. Oh my, they are dangerous. One of them caused Meryl Streep to have her worst acting experience ever.

Just like anywhere else you just need to aware of your surroundings.
For instance gardeners in Sydney are well aware of funnel web spiders, so they wear gloves. People in the tropic know that that here are crocs in the water so they take the necessary precautions.
Here in Adelaide we have King Browns (snakes). A couple of years ago one of our cats bailed a six footer up in the vegie patch. But the fact is you’re too big to eat, so they will leave you alone just as long as they don’t feel threatened. That is just about everybody bitten is bitten when they attached the snake and not the other way round. So just as long as you make enough noise so they can here/feel you coming they’ll be long gone before you ever get to see one.
As for Dingos, they are only a problem as far as stock is concerned, but they have been known to attack the odd tourist who wants to go and feed and pat the cute little doggy. They are a wild dog and should be treated as such.

Hi Marvin 🙂
I think they mean those mongrel free radicals in your body you know the ones that grab your positive electrons and make em into more free radicals then they go around your system trying to make you sick.
I think the quandongs scavenge for free radicals and boot them out so they can't do anymore damage. Free radicals are not native to Australia but will invade anybody.
Unfortunately Dingoes are becoming and endangered species. Being hunted by farmers and interbreeding with dogs is decimating them.
It's pretty dangerous to walk outdoors here. If you go out at night in our fair city of Sydney you could get King Hit by some drunken yobbo who confuses partying with brawling.
Lots of ppl are being run over by buses and taxis lately, due to stepping out in traffic with their mobile phones (cell phones) taking up all their attention.
Salmonella (food) poisoning was on the news this morning. They're putting it down to our warmer than usual Autumn (Fall). Personally, I think it's because ppl aren't rinsing their rice lol.
Apart from that wer'e ok, lol
