Hi, my names LEYROY

its true i have only experienced 2 greyhounds

so my knowledge is pretty limited

i dont know any trainers or what day to day life for the racing greyhounds is like

but my 2 greyhounds have both had 'issues' mentally.

not vicious or anything of course

but that lack of trust in people.

plus i can see missing fur here and there where he has been injured enough to have been bleeding.

greyhounds skin is incredibly thin and tears easily.

mostly on the legs but also on the body.

falling during racing is common, legs get tangled.

much worse injuries are common too, broken legs prolly the worst that can be fixed.

if the owner or trainer will spend the money.

Hi, my names LEYROY

When I was a kid my cat just disappeared one day. I panicked and looked for him everywhere. Then an article appeared in the paper that stated greyhound gangs were cruising the streets of suburbs to collect cats for greyhounds to chase, catch and tear apart. This was to rev up the dogs so they would try harder in races. My suburb was listed. I'm sure you can imagine what I felt. So my personal experience hasn't been the best either. But my mate is entirely different to those animals and I think his capacity to love an animal is greater than mine.

not every owner/trainer is a rotten apple, in fact i will go out on a limb and say most of them love and care for the dogs like they are pets.

just not how i would treat a loved pet.

the fact leroy and foo and the hundreds of other greyhounds are given up for adoption (its not free the trainers have to pay a fee) shows they care about what happens to their dogs.

but still, the racing game isnt for fluffy puppys chasing their tails around an oval.

its for the toughest and fitest and fastest brutes bred and they become crazy balls of testosterone filled monsters at the end of the race. dont get in my way or else say some of them.

leroy has struck gold, he will get to spend his days lazing about a house and walking on a beach.

many dont.

“A young woman stepped forward from the throng and asked, "0' great prophet, tell us how we might find love that is unconditional, unwavering and unending." The prophet did not answer right away. He looked off into the distance, gathering his thoughts. Silence descended upon the crowd. Then he turned his gaze upon the young woman and said, "Get a dog.”

Hi, my names LEYROY

back from our walk in the wild wild wind n rain

hes all stired up, theres a house up the road with a sail shade thats destroying itself.

its torn a big bit of metal from under the gutter where it was bolted on right off.

its now flying about hiting the walls making a real din.

leroy was not happy getting past it.

i expect it'll take a little while for him to get back to his 'im cool boy' mode
