I saw a show on Foxtel yesterday where they interviewed an up and coming young NRL player named Ryan Papenhuyzen. He has a pretty big following and seems like a really nice bloke. He mentioned that he owns a greyhound named Gary's Gift which is still racing. Apparently the dog is not the fastest around. He seldom wins, but when he does it is usually because of luck and at big odds.
Ryan said he is very fond of the dog and plans to adopt him when he finishes his racing career. It was obvious to me that the two are already connected. It really felt like a good news story and I'm hoping it rubs off on his many fans.

but i'm glad you make them without getting into personal attacks.
as for greyhounds and adoption, it would be impossible for me to race a greyhound after having one as a companion.
even leroy has scars left from racing, much less than foo had.
racing does greyhounds no favours, it leaves many dogs with lots of mental problems.
with me leroy is like i'm his bestest friend but he is afraid of everyone and everything else.
when i take him out for walks, if we are on our own his heads up and hes striding along like hes king of the world
if he hears or sees anyone he becomes timid and wants to hide.
foo was a little like that too and it took at least a year before he was close to normal.
