maybe there was a story in the paper about how greyhounds must be on leash all the time, even on deserted beaches miles from anyone.

You can't allow him to be destructive. 

I hope you growled at him for bad behaviour, and showed him his own toys instead.

I know it's hard to growl at him, but be firm.
