High profile crimes

This is not a discussion of the locked thread as much as what makes one case a higer profile than another.

The Jill Meagher case was talked about here

So was Keishas murder even before it became a murder

And there have been more, so I do wonder why the other mention no names one was locked?

Anyone able to shed light on it without discussing a locked thread?

Re: High profile crimes

The previous ones were discussed before Lithium started moderating this board  (July 2013?)

Another high profile case discussed here (Apr 2012) was Gerard Baden-Clay whose trial starts next month - June 9, 2014

Re: High profile crimes

maybe because they now have suspects in custody that will require a trial.

When we were yapping about the other cases the bad guy hadn't been caught.

just a theory.

I think too, the thread may be unlocked after the mods run it by the higher powers, if they say its ok

Re: High profile crimes

I see no reason that anything on MSM should not be discussed. I find that peculiar

Re: High profile crimes

thanks, am and kelso. that makes sense. My imagination took over a bit with just who was really reading the boards 😮

But then my imagination also took over hearing about a guy that was buried at the beach waist deep and needed rescuing. The real reason was nothing like the mob hit that was going through me head 😄

Re: High profile crimes

they started locking such threads when a poster kicked up a huge stink over a case not yet before the courts being discussed - intimating that it was illegal as it could jeopardise the outcome of the trial.

if i recall corectly a thread by azurline was the one it all hit the fan on.

Re: High profile crimes

az... that one was just after Lithium started - Aug 2013 and was the first thread of that type to be locked.

Baden-Clay discussion started after Allison went missing, before any arrest.
