Home battery scheme off to sluggish start in SA, despite $6,000 subsidy
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-31/slow-start-for-sa-home-battery-subsidy-scheme/11654962
even with the subsidy batteries are still very expensive for the average home owner.
i had solar panels installed a few years ago but only because the price has fallen a lot and with govt subsidies it became just within my budget.
i was lucky i had bought into the telstra shares when they were first brought out, only the basic allotment tho.
then i sat on them. i had no idea how to sell them.
anyway, at the time i was looking longingly at the idea of solar panels and was well short of the cash required telstra sent me a letter offering to buy back my shares at better than market value.
so i took their offer and it almost covered the cost of my solar panels.
id love a battery but cant see me ever having the up front cash to buy one.
they should do a deal where you get a battery and pay it off with the money your not handing the energy company every 1/4
