I haven't seen any Americans "dishing it out" unless it's been after having copped a lot of criticism about their country's politics and customs.
I've never seen any Americans being anything other than curious about our ways or even having any clue or care about our politics.
That last little fun "invasion" a few years ago where they asked if kangaroos hop down the main street and Marvin asking about the Cassowary, stuff like that was all in good fun, and didn't they cop a lashing off some of the more precious posters here?

Will do, Jet
I'd love to do the sort of run the American Pickers do.

I agree with some others that it is not personal more the topics perhaps, I've seen a few not so nice remarks coming from the Americans but I don't blame "Americans" as such, it is the person it is coming from. I couldn't care who posts here, we could do with more diversity. We are brought up differently so there are going to be cultural differences.
I've been to America a number of times and am going to go again sooner rather than later to see the "fall" on the east coast.
Aussie American words, this video came across my facebook page the other day. There are loads more words than in this though.

I know you were referring to the righties, Myo.
But I was referring to the Americans.

Many years ago, I asked an honest question to some of the Ozzies, who openly disliked Amercans. Why? Their answer was very interesting, and I've come to find that many people around the world agree with the answer that I was given.
"Americans think that they are better than the rest of the world. Americans think they are smarter/richer/more athletic/etc." There is an idea that all Americans look down their noses at other countries.
Personally, I don't think any of those things. We are a huge country, filled with all types of people. We are a melting pot of almost all nationalities. Most Americans have ancestors from all over the world. Predominently Europe.
My husband isn't from America. My kids are American, with 1/2 Scottish ancestry. They are very proud, and interested in their heritage.
Some Americans are full of themselves. Most of those types have never traveled around the world. It's funny to listen to someone pretending to be superior, when they have never left their front porch.

its relevant to them though and like it or not this board is open to people from any country and they can post whatever they like.
besides that its far more interesting than endless threads saying tony abbott is a poopoo head.

i have a theory as to why Americans are perceived as thinking they are better - I think its their open and heartfelt patriotism.
I don't see any other country, even Australia, display such love for their country and respect for their flag.
