greencat, this is Chicago pizza. My grandmother used to make it like that....thick like bread....and oh, so good.
This photo was taken last year when daughter, SIL and grandson (eating) went to Great Lakes Navel Base to see my oldest grandson graduate boot camp. Everyone there suggested they eat at this particular pizza pub. I can't remember the name for the life of me, but it's well known. jet probably knows this spot.

That looks more like a quiche than a pizza. Do they have to supersize everything in the US?

It's just Chicago style pizza. None of that thin crust stuff. 🙂
It's Texas that super sizes. LOL

I like my pizza so thin I make it on flat bread or pita bread.

I think lots of folks like it thin. True Italian pizza is thick crusted...very similar to french bread. At least that's how my grandmother made it and she was from the boot of Italy (Calabria).

You could be right there. I remember when you didn't have a choice between thick crust or thin from a Pizza parlour. It was all thick.
I just don't want to waste too much tummy space on dough. I'd rather have the good stuff on top.
