That applies to knives etc., but not a poisonous spear. The damage was already done.

You don't do that wild pig hunting do you? Do they have horns? I think some do.

My favourtite Steve Irwin was when he was showing visitors a huge turtle (and I mean HUGE) and as it was slowly waddling towards them he said "Okay, get ready to run, he'll be here in an hour" - his sense of humour was not often evident, but he was a great man and was very humble, lovely guy to speak to.
Another question to the Amercian posters - are you offended by the term Yanks ?
We are known to call people from the UK 'poms' and I knew some English people who found it very offensive.

I don't call poms, limeys. Sheesh.
I lived in England many years ago, and a butcher used the term "Yank" in a derogatory manner toward me. I've hated the term since then. The East coast Yankees(baseball) are the rival team to the West coast team. Maybe that is another reason why I don't like the term very much.
However, on this board, I find the term funny, and I will embrace it.. if you insist. ๐
If I say that I'm offended, more people tend to use it when they talk to me here. I've been told more than once that the term is not offensive, therefore I should not be offended. I wonder how you would feel if I called you a kiwi? My husband lived In N.Z. for three years when he was a kid.

On an aside, I loved Steve Irwin. My kids grew up watching him, and his family on TV. His wife is American, and she has kept his work going in Australia. His daughter has followed in his footsteps, and she seems like a great person. I'm not sure if his son is also involved in the work. Steve was passionate about animals, and truly loved his job(at least it seemed that way). Shezah beaut!

I dont mind being called a Kiwi ๐
That photo of Steve was taken about 1996, MY husband took the photo of Steve and me.
I met the whole family and loved them
The Australia Zoo was not that big in those days and the keepers would make you a cup of tea and a Vegemite Sandwich.
