Have your ebay chat boards been shut down?

Are your ebay boards boring?

The little luxuries were welcome during the war.
Food was rationed.

Do tell...........I heard all about it from my 'Strine uncles and aunts........and remember, food was rationed in the US also.

My mom used to talk about staying up late at night and listening the the pilots talking during the Battle of Britain.......

The parent brewery- Castlemaine Perkins - originated in Victoria but XXXX only came into being once they bought a failed distillery in Queensland and started brewing XXXX Sparkling Ale there.

The US didnt suffer that much rationing.

England had rationing until i think 1953 on some things.

If you look up Wikipedia and rationing,, it lists what mily had during a month.

I have more butter in a week than. Family had in a month.
Likewise bacon

Hard times during the war.

I suppose rationing was a big part of my father's life for 4 years.

When the allies went to evacuate Crete there were not enough ships.

He went back to be 'a guest of the german government' for 4 long hard years.]

POW.

He was 6'4" and on arrival home & into the future never made 140 LBS = 10 Stone.

Another question to the Amercian posters - are you offended by the term Yanks ?

Don't offend me, but I don't see it as a relivant term in the here and now. Enough time has passed since that term was commonly used that many southerners have since moved north and northerners moved south, also the deviding line has blured.

Seems somewhat comparable to easterners going west and being called tenderfoots.
