The NZ prime minister has a good point though, i believe it's inhuman to deport folks if they've made a life here in oz, especially if they only committed minor offences.
Although she may not change our harsh policies, good on her for voicing her opinion.

joz, nothing will change the mind of the crime minister
at first glance the idea of sending crims back to their country of origin sounds ok
its only when i realise they are including people who have resided in this country since almost birth that i think, well thats not fair.
if they were adults and chose to move here and then decided to commit crimes, send em back by all means.
unless they have taken out citizenship

Ones national citizenship has it's privileges - you can not have it both ways

Aus tried to send a Aboriginal man back to NZ because his mum gave birth while on holiday in New Zealand
Thank goodness common since came in to play, could not think of any thing more stupid as to take this man away from his family and dump him in NZ where he had no one

His only crime he was friendly with a gang deported back to NZ where he had no family.
I am a citizen of both countries
Guilty by association? now that is just plain ridiculous
Actually guilt by association , at least within the realms of public image is enshrined in Australian culture

Maybe it would be easier if we just welcomed NZ back into the fold - it was origianlly part of NSW until early /mid 1800's
