I went and had a look see this morning after reading some posts. It's a mess, the Soapbox looked like the busiest but I could be wrong, didn't linger long.

They stuck the remaining open-topic boards in GROUPS under eBay Friends in the middle of the other groups.
The ones with all the posts, Soapbox, Night owl nest, times square and a couple others used to be on the Discussion board list.

Found it and did what I wanted to do.
Years ago I used to talk to a few people in the Park. One I spoke to on the phone when he was in hospital.
I didn't do the forum thing for quite sometime.
Anyway I went to visit, but too late, He passed away.

Since the latest rounds of eBay "improvements", it's an absolute mess. As a newcomer you would never find the old discussion boards which are now buried deep in the depths of "groups".
Here is the new link to the main discussion board:
The Soapbox:

Here's the complete list of the eBay Friends Group discussion boards - the popularity of each is indicated by the accumulated number of posts to each board:

Note that if you are not signed in, the default presentation order of the posts has, for some mysterious reason, been reversed - the latest post is presented first at the top of the page, instead of the normal logical oldest first order. The mods have been told about this, but so far the matter is unresolved:
