How do you clean your windows?

OK it's a job I loathe but it has to be done .... I have a massive window in my sunroom what's the best way to clean it, that doesn't take long or leaves smears/smudges?

Re: How do you clean your windows?

I use a Norwex cleaning mitt, water and a Norwex polishing cloth. Amazing results and easy as, never consider using anything else again.

If you have an agent in the area, call and ask for a demo, she will clean it for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: How do you clean your windows?

It depends in what vicinity you live that determines a method.

Near a busy main road (where there is usually diesel fumes, dirty grime, etc) I used a dustpan broom to detergent wash, then rinse, then the old newspaper/metho way.  (But I think a different ink/paper is used nowadays and doesn't seem as good)

People in a seaside location probably have a method too.

In the normal neighbourhood situation, I use plain water to rinse off any grime.  Then a Vileda window cloth (or real chamois)  in clean warm water to wipe over for a streak free finish.  The more often they are done (bi monthly) the easier each time.

I do the interior kitchen window more often.  (And if it has steamed up or splashed by washing up, I wipe it over with the chamois immediately.)

I find  that some of the so called cleaners seem to attract dirt or leave a greasy film, that is why I use just plain water.

Oh and don't do it when the sun is shining on the glass.

Windex is great, it's even a very good stain remover for washable fabrics.. I've been using a long handled squeegee thing and a mix of windex and water to do my windows outdoors.

Re: How do you clean your windows?

When Channy comes to visit with her amstaff and her lady dane, they do the sliding glass door for me.

They are very thorough. They coat it with a protective film.

Walks away thinking, I wonder if that is what she meant

The manager/caretaker of the apartment building I live in, swears by Mornging Fresh Dish Liquid, diluted in water, sprayed on and squeegied off.

Seriously, the elevator mirrors are pristine and windows are glowing.

I tried it on my floor to ceiling mirrored closet doors (who thinks of that) and it works - bl**dy awesome
