I've had my Westinghouse for 8 years and it's finally carked it - after a costly repair last year.
Just wondering - I'm sure in the last generation fridges used to last a lot longer.
What are others experiences?

have you looked at some aftermarket seals they make now, it could be a good investment with the price of power now
i have some of the original type, but i havent put them on because the fridge needs paint. and yes, i think some of the newer types would probably be better. its not in use ATM but i like it a lot. here's one for sale (note the address 🙂 )

wow thats an interesting fridge and it looks like you are sitting on a collectors item.
When I repainted Grans fridge all those years ago I stripped it back to bare metal with paint stripper, etch primed and resprayed with auto enamel with the added catalyst that made it harder.
These days you have all the great two packs that duplicate the original baked enamel finishes really well

that fridge is missing a few things, freezer door etc. the date is wrong, and its handpainted i think.
i'm going for the original colours .. a yellow, like the enamel on bread-bins . someone locally does rods and is willing to prep and paint it at a price (my gear is past it) and they do good work so.. i'll either take it up there or sell it as it is ,, you see i want to buy a shop bottle fridge designed /manufactured by my father that's for sale near here.and i dont have room for both of them ;\

I think if yours is original I would look at selling it as is, collectors like good original better than restored.

yes, that's true hawk, but in order to keep it it needs painting as the other party with a say says so 🙂 otherwise it will stay in the back shed until the modern one dies.
