I am not but then my organs are probably pickled anyway.
Besides I would be afraid they might just kill me for them if I am not dead.

Even when if you did have it recorded on your drivers licence that you wanted to donate your organs, your family could still have overidden that decision after your death. Which is why it isn't any option any more on drivers licence through the Roads & Maritimes Services (old RTA).. in NSW at least (since Aug 2012 approx)
Roads and Maritime Services no longer collects or records organ donor preferences.
New guidelines for doctors will be introduced and it will become more difficult for families to over-ride their loved ones' wishes.
NSW residents now register their organ and tissue donation decision on the Australian Organ Donor Register, the single national register.
You can register at donatelife.gov.au/decide, visit your local Medicare Customer Service Centre or call 1800 777 203.
Visit donatelife.gov.au for detailed information on becoming an organ donor or call 1800 777 20

I am, my husband is and so is my 16 yr old daughter.
Mine is on my licence and all 3 of us have a donor card that you can request through the organ donor association.
All my friends and family know our wishes.
Whilst it still would be heartbreaking if anything happened, at least the ones left would be spared the decision of deciding right there and then.
I would rather someone get some use out of our organs and have a life....what use are they to me when I am dead

The biggest problem is the lack of $$ not the lack of body parts when it comes to transplants.

No. The biggest problem is getting the organ donor team to get their **bleep** into gear on a Sunday.
Been there, done that, very recently.
They couldn't organise for tissue donation because it was Sunday and no-one was available. So two corneas went to waste. Two viable kidneys went to waste.

Yes I am an organ donor.
I have a family member currently on the waiting list for a heart...........and the reality is he probably wont live long enough to receive one.

I understand the concern... and the fear... in some countries it is a problem where the wealthy want organs and people are killed for them...
Australia is a very different place to some Asian countries... here there are very strict guidlines in place to make sure that the operations can't go ahead without very strict standards.
I am an organ donor.. my kids don't want to have any of their organs taken for donations.

My late OH received the gift of a kidney & a pancreas over 15 years ago.He was a diabetic, had renal failure & was just about to start dialysis when he received the call from the hospital. He was a new man and was forever grateful for the gift of his new organs.Due to the anti-rejection drugs over 15 years his body had not much resistence left,he got pnemonia was admitted to Monash Medical, picked up a superbug whilst in hospital was admitted to intensive care and there sadly we had to turn off his life support..
All my family are organ donors..my OH had 15 years of normal life and really that`s what "organ donation" is all about...another chance to lead a normal life!!

Don't Medicare have a record of your donation preference these days? I'm sure the last time I filled in a paper claim form (about 3 months ago) it asked, and I thought I had seen something on my online Medicare record?
Edit: I am a donor btw
