Besides I would be afraid they might just kill me for them if I am not dead.

The best way to ensure your wishes are carried out re organ donation is to register with Australian Organ Donor Register, the single national register.
After a death of the person who wanted to donate their organs, their family could overule that decision. As it says in my post above, new guidelines for Drs have been introduced to make it more difficult for families to over ride these decisions.
I think the drivers licence organ donation (if still avail in some states), doesn't hold that much weight legally.
I haven't signed up as a donor. I did read a few years ago that having it on your licence wouldn't ensure that your wishes were carried out. I really wouldnt want family members having a falling out over organ donation after my death, if they couldn't all agree to it. Now I have read there is a national register I will think about it more carefully.

It’s not compulsory to link your donor registration to your Medicare record but we ask your permission to do this because it will help keep your details up-to-date. It will also help to identify your record if you are ever considered as an organ donor in the future.
