Nothing would have stopped me from possibly killing that child by scooping it up and taking him/her to safety

but leaving it with what to us is a minor cold but to a child with a compromised immune system is deadly.

Re: Hunger

The girl's parents were nearby, collecting food from the UN plane. The photographer was distressed because he was unable to help other thanto chase away the vulture and a few months after winning an award for this photo, he committed suicide.

Lion

Yes, I know, it's pretty obvious the child doesn't have any strength.

The parents were nearby, the UN said don't interfere, not nice but where do you stop interfering ?

Re: Hunger

There have been far too many staged photos from Africa which are designed to tug at the heartstrings and elicit $5 from the wallet, only to be forgotten the next day.

Sorry I agree with Polks, I am a mother and I could not bare this, dont touch the kid then but bring her some food.

I would perfer to see a photo of some one feeding that child.

amazing.  the photo was taken during food

drop off.  the parents left the children to collect the

food.

i didnt think  ppl would actually assume this

photographer did not care and would just leave the

child alone, to die.

seeing hungry children eating is nicer, i get that,

but that's not the reality.

Polks

Agree.

Which is why I switch off to the charity adverts, too staged.

Re: Hunger

that's the thing.  it wasn't staged.  that is why

it is such an iconic image.  staged would be the

photo in the op.

Re: Hunger

Not staged?  BS

The Pulitzer Prize winning image shows a girl who was exhausted and taking a break while on her way to a feeding center. Kevin Carter took about 20 minutes to get the shot of the vulture and the baby in focus without scaring off the vulture.
