Re: Hunger

I know, I can't stand World Vision or that  tat   they trot out to give a 30 second sound bite for the media. Costello ????

They are on the NGO Gov't gravy train and they love it.

Two of those Geldof photos above are staged.

Re: Hunger

To say that the photo was staged, is saying it is fake, and such scenes are not real.

it is too horrible to comprehend so i can

understand why some people prefer to believe

the situation was not real, at the same time it is

very unfair to accuse carter of staging it.  Smiley Sad

and yes, he was deeply affected by what he saw,

not just that day.

Spoiler
Excerpts from Cater's suicide note read: "I'm really, really sorry. The pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy does not exist...depressed ... without phone ... money for rent ... money for child support ... money for debts ... money! ... I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners... I have gone to join Ken if I am that lucky."

At least two are staged for a start.

Re: Hunger

It was that was that confronting news report about the Ethiopian famine  which inspired Bob Geldof to act, to organise Live Aid. I believe that Geldof used both staged and unstaged photos to get his message across.

It was because of a journo and his cameraman etc who shocked and horrified those from developed countries to take action. Without those images [I don't recall if the journo etc rescued any one - child or adult] the general population would have remained oblivious as to what was happening in Ethiopia.
