Well kind of

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/employers-should-respect-the-private-religious-practice-of-t...

I was forced to apply for a job as the maintenance guy at a Catholic school until I was able to get my EC to realize that I was not a believer and it stated quite clearly in the list of job requirements that you had to be a practicing Catholic to work there.
I have no problem with that but isn't it the opposite of what Scott is saying.
If employers should stay out of peoples religious beliefs then it should work both ways.
Obviously religious freedom means that religions can act with impunity but the rest of us need punishment for whatever we do.
Sounds like the kind of thinking that supports the pedophile way of life that they are still so reluctant to admit fault in.

A bit of freedom from religion is what parliament needs.
Scott obviously thrives on denial.
Here a scheming, plotting liar is deluded into believing that he is PM because of God.
Now the scheming and plotting is being exposed it's all "ancient history".
No miracle here folks. Just a liar.
Oh well. This country was born on a lie.
Why change.
Terra nullius, anyone?

I'm all for religious freedom
As long as there is freedom from religion.
I don't knock on people's doors and try and convert them to my way of not thinking.
I would like people to stop annoying me into their way of not thinking.
My belief is that no one knows.
I don't care.
Life is hell.
If I'm to be punished for not ever having asked to be here and not having ever much enjoyed having been here then so be it.

I have to admit, I can see no reason why a maintenance guy's religion would be relevant to the job. That should not be in the list of job requirements (in my opinion, but of course I'm not the law)

Mind you, I do think that there are valid reasons why the anti sex/religion discrimination should be waived for certain positions.

For instance, if you were wanting to be a religious educator it might be relevant.

And I was reading once  of a man who went to court accusing a store of sex discrimination as they would not give him a job but part of the job involved fitting women's underwear.

So there need to be some exceptions but not for maintenance work, I would not have thought.

But... you sound as if you were not keen on that position and were relieved to find an 'out' in any case.

What sort of position would you like to find? Good luck with it.

Springy, I've worked at a public school and had no problems with it.
I don't want to work for any employer that thinks that they have control over what I do or do not believe
