You really do grasp at the past DY, and LL, and without any knowledge of law, hearsay, ( or facts).
So if "Our PM was accused of indecent assault" ( a criminal offence), why was it not investigated , and proceeded with by the judiciary?
"In letters of reply, Mr Abbott compared the accusations to Nazi propaganda and said that the "facts" presented were "bare-faced lies or gross distortions".
At least the intervening years have not changed the accuracy of that comment, as opposed to these from our myopic (unhappy) history grasping buffs :
LL: "bernardi's faction is a powerful one and will recieve ministerial responsibility as is the usual practice."
DY: I guess we will find out when Abbott gives him a ministry position John."

you may have that , but you missed the point completely. the incident alleged isn't the issue. amd back to my point re bernardi, we shall see. a little time, some good behaviour.. and we'll see him join the others in his cabal.

LL: ".....you missed the point completely. the incident alleged isn't the issue....." What is the point (historical or otherwise) then?, considering the point to be addressed would I expect be encompassed by the OP's deliberately biased comments:
"Our PM was accused of indecent assault. "not sure if it was an assault on a woman, or gay person........."
I suggest DY you try researching if you are "not sure", rather than posting biased nonsense not supported by the facts.
Basic facts: Ms Wilson, politically opposite to Abbott in their student days, alleged that (in full public view on stage) an indecent assault was made upon her at a rowdy student political meeting in 1977. Of the many people at the meeting up to 7 who noticed
"said (on oath) that they saw Abbott touch Miss Wilson on the back."
The case was dismissed. The magistrate complained of "enormous conflict" between the prosecution and defence evidence
2004 "Ms Wilson declined to comment on the case when approached by The Sun-Herald."
Summary; in 2013 DY discovers a 2004 media story regurgitated from 1978 apropos an incident concerning Abbott which was dismissed by a magistrate. Oh, and don't forget the little addition by DY to embellish the story. even though being "not sure".
A regurgitated 25 year old dismissed "incident" (sans facts)?
Some Myopics are obviously suffering PPTSD (post poll traumatic stress disorder) coupled with an attack of historical revisionism.

rumours, hearsay, biased opinions and myopic attitudes......
RUBBISH
Here's a fact - the man is a mysogynist...
so it's not a far stretch to believe that he is capable of indecent assault,
it's also not a far stretch for any defence lawyer to spin "indecent assault" into a "pat on the back"
and I don't read the newspaper - any of them

from your link
An investigation by The Sun-Herald into Mr Abbott's controversial student days reveals that he spawned many more enemies than friends during those heady days.
"He was a very offensive, a particularly obnoxious sort of guy," said Barbie Schaffer, a Sydney teacher who was at Sydney University with Mr Abbott.
"He was very aggressive, particularly towards women and homosexuals".
Published university reports show that after a narrow defeat in the university senate elections in 1976 - Mr Abbott's first year of an economics-law degree - he kicked in a glass panel door.
Why is the Sun Herald investigating this anyway?
Pleased he won this time, can't see him kicking in glass doors though.........
I do think it is time to stop the looking for stuff to stick on him......
Slipper says he is innocent too
so does that other guy........ ? can't recall his name..

where to start ? i'm aware that you find most points trivial, but the historical significance points to recent events. the last 3 years or so mostly. this story if it centred around a labor figure.. (ms gillard will do) would have been pushed so hard as to be accepted as entirely factual by the oz public. its not who you are, but who's out to smear you that counts here.
