Have people become so discerning that they will post on just about anyones posts?

Is that what is has come to?

it would appear so.

Re: I feel sorry for

There were a lot of cliques on CW. The threads that went from 1 post to 200+ in a short amount of time usually involved biffo. Fun for onlookers?

There were some posters who had a great sense of humour.

Re: I feel sorry for

Another thought ( last one). A lot of the posters years ago were Mums at home with small children (Family tax benefit threads! Remebrr those?) and who posted in the day time. Those children grew up, went to school..their Mums got jobs..to busy to post here a lot.

Mums with young children now tend to hang out on Facebook. I dont think there is any posters here who have preschool children.

Re: I feel sorry for

Some of the old fun posters are still here, but rarely venture out of their long term threads to post. (looks at Miss Mioux and Richo)

I don't venture in to theirs because I can't remember who is who and who does what and all that daily life stuff.

I think we should be allowed to have a little bit more adult humour.

Re: I feel sorry for

internet regulations have changed over the years too.I suppose ebay and the mods need to adhere to that and so much is open to individual interpretation and level of social acceptability

ie for adult humour...some thought pickering pics of our Former PM complete with s&m gear should be acceptable ...others like myself agreed with ebays guidelines and didn't find that acceptable or funny

Re: I feel sorry for

I dont get this thread?

Are you complaing because people post on others threads too much?

Yet, you chose to go into a thread about the Oscars and call those of us posting in there shallow because we were discussing the Oscars?

strange

Why are those who posted on CW which existed for years and years and years not allowed to post their opinion about the latest manifestation without being howled down and ridiculed by those who have no idea what it was like?

There are things about CS which are a vast improvement over CW but I miss the vibrancy and life of CW. A popular thread here might get say 125 posts over 24hrs, whereas, on CW, a popular thread would get that many within 10 minutes. RT and CW were separate boards and not combined like they are now. RT was just as vibrant as CW.

Not all posters got BP'd into oblivion, blue.

Some found better fun on places like facebook and other social media. You can say all sorts of things there without pesky moderation.

The games threads have been moved over to a separate forum, on a popular vote by many members here who thought them and interruption the their specific brand of "fun".

Seperate social groups were formed on other sites.

Others gave up in disgust over being constantly trolled, or frozen out, ignored.

Current CSers are the stayers who have kept this forum going out of the train wreck of the old ones, so to come here calling everyone boring and stupid is just plain rude.

Considering derision and insult used to be the currency of the old CW and RT, I suppose it's not out of character, though.

I coud not disagree more with this.

The attraction of the old days, on both boards, and what is missing here, was fast paced threads full of humour, sarcasm, wit, sharing, empathy and a bit of good old fashioned robust banter.
You really had to be on your toes to keep up most of the time - and the friday night hijinks were usually worth the resulting holidays.

Sure there was derision and insults, infighting and trolling, but it was usually overshadowed until the next time now it just goes on and on and on.... .

There just wasn't the over abundance of preciousness that is here now.
