this forum.
Have people become so discerning that they will post on just about anyones posts?
Is that what is has come to?
it would appear so.
Those were the days my friends..........................................

I like stupid threads. I don't have the mental capacity to contribute to 'proper' threads, so stupid ones suit me just fine

I posted the same once, not that long ago... that got some response (read criticism)!, most particularly from the ones who post mainly about the weather and what they had for dinner.
CS is a general chat board not an academic or specialist board.

People still got moderated and/or banned on the old boards though. The first level ban was 7 days? Lots of posters got indefinite bans. They did return under other ids though, so maybe it was easier to do that then. So overall the result or moderation now compared to then,it might have been harsher in the old days. A lot of the posters missing now that people remember fondly got indefinite bans in CW days.

the bans were 7 days, the elusive 14 days, 30 days, indefinite and permanent. indefinite bans were generaly a minimum of 90 days, you coud then apply to be let back in.
when you applied you were sent an email directing you to read the board policy, saying you had to agree to be a good girl or you would be out again.
i had a few of those.

There are things about CS which are a vast improvement over CW but I miss the vibrancy and life of CW. A popular thread here might get say 125 posts over 24hrs, whereas, on CW, a popular thread would get that many within 10 minutes. RT and CW were separate boards and not combined like they are now. RT was just as vibrant as CW.
Not all posters got BP'd into oblivion, blue.
Some found better fun on places like facebook and other social media. You can say all sorts of things there without pesky moderation.
The games threads have been moved over to a separate forum, on a popular vote by many members here who thought them and interruption the their specific brand of "fun".
Seperate social groups were formed on other sites.
Others gave up in disgust over being constantly trolled, or frozen out, ignored.
Current CSers are the stayers who have kept this forum going out of the train wreck of the old ones, so to come here calling everyone boring and stupid is just plain rude.
Considering derision and insult used to be the currency of the old CW and RT, I suppose it's not out of character, though.
I coud not disagree more with this.
The attraction of the old days, on both boards, and what is missing here, was fast paced threads full of humour, sarcasm, wit, sharing, empathy and a bit of good old fashioned robust banter.
You really had to be on your toes to keep up most of the time - and the friday night hijinks were usually worth the resulting holidays.
Sure there was derision and insults, infighting and trolling, but it was usually overshadowed until the next time now it just goes on and on and on.... .
There just wasn't the over abundance of preciousness that is here now.
Youve pretty much confirmed everything I said.

Some of the threads I remember fondly involved beaver cartoons, blow-up betty (a couple of lads doing a tour of Oz with a blow up doll, fun pics), cleaning of catflaps, corn, pineapple juice. Barbie dolls, postcards from ebali, purple couches, cupcakes and closets, friday night freakiness when ebay were doing maintenaince, and 101 uses for a dead cat, Puddlebacks Caturday threads.
These weren't mean threads, but often there was sexual innuendo or adult themes, nothing x-rated (well except for grandpa trout and that pair of knees). I must be coming across as a deviate, but those were the threads I liked, ones where we could be adults. Unless there was a vendetta, posts often stayed for days. I think in some ways the boards had more tolerant users than they do now. Now it is so PC. I'm sure there are interesting threads, but I'm not interested in politics or current affairs. (mostly due to my own ignorance on the outside world)
I also think moderators sanitizing posts sucks

and just to stay on topic, I feel sorry for ebay moderators, d'amned if they do, d'amned if they don't
(I know it doesn't have an apostrophe but I get bleeped every time I say **bleep**)
