I had often thought about this situation

I had often thought about this situation with a few posters always putting down the poor, the unemployed, the under unemployed, the people on disability, the aged and generally anyone they considered not as good as themselves.

Do we have spin doctors here working to divide the population to distract us from seeing what is really wrong in the world or are they just sad individuals

As in, getting a staffer or Labor or Green Stalwart to post on forums, to "push the message"

and in some ways, direct the conversation !

Don't worry, I have no doubt that the LNP do it as well !

No, it's not a case of putting down, it's a case of wanting to make sure that those who can do it for themselves don't just sit on their hands and get spoon fed welfare by the Gov't.

Those who can't do it for themselves - all classes, need help, no one I know of has a problem with that, even on the right.

It's just the largesse expected by some that galls.

I don't think anyone disagrees that people who can do something for themselves should be doing it.

What I think Hawke is trying to say, and not trying to speak for Hawke, but what galls is that anyone and everyone who is in an unfortunate situation is lumbered in with those taking advantage of the system.

I see it over and over in discussions online. I see it over and over on here. Generalisations being thrown about by accussers as the overseers of people's credibility.

People forget that in this country we have always looked after those less fortunate, though probably not for much longer. Just because someone is in need of assistance doesn't give anyone else the right to lump them in with people who are doing the wrong thing. It doesn't do anyone justice to just blame all and sundry for the actions of the few.

I agree too that spin doctors are hitting online comments to divert conversations. It is apparant in a number of sites I visit.

Alex

Agree.

But generalisations are thrown around by both sides, especially on here !

The problem is, the "few" get away with it because whoever - Gov'ts, etc do not come down hard enough

and when one does, like this one, the left are up in arms and then all manner of names are thrown.

And so everyone gets tarred with the same brush, the few and the many !

And then you have those who do take advantage of the system to get away

with not fulfilling their responsibilities !

They are a cancer, children often turn out the same.

Unfortunately it's a case of bad apples spoiling it for the rest.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you say but am interested that you have stated that it's done by both sides when that was not even an issue I raised.  Just shows that nearly every opinion has now come down to 'left' and 'right' and I wish it was just us, as people.

Nevertheless, in the scheme of things, someone on welfare for maybe $15,000 year,  whether legit or not,  is demonized yet a tradie doing cash jobs for $30,000 is seen as 'inventive'. And someone getting their taxes adjusted for more income is seen as clever. Though legal, it still doesn't make it moral. It's just the double standards and the demonising I don't like.

"tradie doing cash jobs for $30,000 is seen as 'inventive'."

Who said that ?

OK Alex, are you saying that you or any of your family don't claim things on your tax to minimise tax, maximise income ?

No one in your whole family has a car used for work, salary sacrifice, negatively geared house ? Nothing ????

Adjusting your tax for more income is legal AND MORAL. A person can only go by the rules and laws in place,

they can't change the laws and rules but they can use them to their advantage.

Why not ?

I would be interesting to know your answers and why you don't think it is MORAL.
