I had often thought about this situation with a few posters always putting down the poor, the unemployed, the under unemployed, the people on disability, the aged and generally anyone they considered not as good as themselves.
Do we have spin doctors here working to divide the population to distract us from seeing what is really wrong in the world or are they just sad individuals

Nevertheless, in the scheme of things, someone on welfare for maybe $15,000 year, whether legit or not, is demonized yet a tradie doing cash jobs for $30,000 is seen as 'inventive'. And someone getting their taxes adjusted for more income is seen as clever. Though legal, it still doesn't make it moral. It's just the double standards and the demonising I don't like."tradie doing cash jobs for $30,000 is seen as 'inventive'."
Who said that ?
OK Alex, are you saying that you or any of your family don't claim things on your tax to minimise tax, maximise income ?
No one in your whole family has a car used for work, salary sacrifice, negatively geared house ? Nothing ????
Adjusting your tax for more income is legal AND MORAL. A person can only go by the rules and laws in place,
they can't change the laws and rules but they can use them to their advantage.
Why not ?
I would be interesting to know your answers and why you don't think it is MORAL.
I didn't accuse anyone else of saying that, I said it. Keep up Vic.
And to answer your question, no I have never minimalised my tax. I'm not going to disclose any personal information on here but I have always and always will, only claim that which I am entitled to and I won't fudge them.
I realise my comments may not have been clear. I am not talking about the average tax payer or small business owner. I am talking about the larger companies and individuals who, if you remember, like Kerry Packer, boast of their tax minimizing. I do have a family member who duds the ATO of probably $30,000 or so a year from doing cash jobs. What I have tried to explain to him, and what he won't accept, is that normal PAYE earners have no choice but to pay their alloted tax and their tax rate is high to make up for the amount people like him dodge who don't pay their fair share. That is the reality. If it were a fair and equitable system all round and people in all tax brackets and tax situations could take advantage of minimisations then I wouldn't have a problem, but it is only available to a few and that is where I find it morally wrong.

I had some input to a thread here about 12 months ago, and out of the blue a response from a person involved in the actual news story. He "put me right" about the situation.
We are all on a "radar" when we use electronics.

When a thread is started here.. say on a news article about child x going missing or Mr x commiting a serious crime... when you google child x or Mr x, the CS thread comes up in google search, along with other sites who have discussed/publlished articles on Mr X.
So anyone wanting to find about Mr X, including Mr x himself can google, links come up and see what sites are discussing him.

Adjusting your tax for more income is LEGAL and MORAL.
Ha!
My first husband was self employed. Lots of cash jobs he never declared and got tax cuts for what was on his books. He left us when the youngest child was 11 month and the oldest 10 years. In all the years the childrn were growing up, he never paid a penny maintenance despite several court orders.
Very MORAL indeed.
There are many cases like that. People trying to roart the system, not only by claiming Centerlin payments.

All Kerry Packer was doing was the same as you, legally claiming things to minimise tax.
Nothing wrong with that.
I agree re the other stuff.

I had some young person tell me that Pensioners are draining the country.
I thought wont be long before they will be putting as in a gas chamber at 70 or just putting as out in the cold to die.
Think what this young person forgot is one day he will be old.

Think about "seeding" a forum is quite a good play on words.
Planting an idea, then the fertilizer is applied.

I think it's a pointless thing to do though... most people have their minds made up on how they see things and won't change their minds because someone is 'seeding' a fourm
